REMOTE Senior Java Engineer - ERP Core Rewrite (Agentic Engineering)

We are currently looking for experienced Java engineers to rebuild the core of an established ERP product for manufacturing. The current version runs on Java 8 and Java EE; the next generation is being built on a modern Java stack, in months rather than years.
AI agents (Claude Code or comparable) write the code. You break down the work, verify the results and shape the architecture: a standard core that customer requirements plug into via defined extension points. The approach is proven and is now being scaled.

Tasks:

• Read the existing core with agents and capture its business rules as executable specifications
• Rebuild core domains, starting with production planning
• Shape the extension model: extension points, plugins, versioned APIs
• Extend the agent tooling: context, verification gates, agents in the ticket flow
• Secure the switch for existing customers: migration, parallel run, reconciliation

Skills:

• 8+ years of production Java backend, including Java 8 and Java EE
• Daily work with coding agents, including verifying their output
• At least one modernisation taken to go-live, including data migration
• Business software experience (ERP, MES, planning, logistics, finance); no industry knowledge needed
• SQL on PostgreSQL and a commercial database; business-fluent English
